More for Kids

In addition to the South Ken Kids Festival, the Institut français offers year-round activities and resources for kids, families and schools.

Bibliothèque Quentin Blake

Bibliothèque Quentin Blake is the library for kids up to 12 years old. On top of its rich collection of books, it offers a vast array of activities to help them familiarise with French language and culture.

Culturethèque

Our digital platform Culturethèque, ran by our qualified librarians, is an online library featuring more than 400 free ebooks, picture books, tales, comic books, magazines and bilingual books for kids to stream. We also offer 200 free audio and video contents recorded during previous events at the Institut français.

Kids activities

The Institut français offers a wide range of activities for children and families throughout the year, ranging from film screenings in its in-house cinema to baby rhymes, storytelling sessions and video games. From 0 to 12 years old we cover it all! Learn French through songs and games in our Kids French Lab! Little inventors can experiment with sciences, technology & design in our T(h)inker Club, little artists can sharpen their pencils with our Art Club and young readers would talk about their favourite stories in our book and BookTube clubs.

School activities

We welcome classes in our South Kensington premises and help them discover the best of French culture and language. Come and watch a French film in our cinema, and explore the biggest and most beautiful French library overseas. With our Set French Days, you can immerse your pupils in French culture for a full day with a linguistic or cultural activity and a film screening. You can also book a School Screening only or a French Day à la carte.
